Unbelievable. First, skip to the end: in 2004, the Gazette sent out BIBLES to every one of its subscribers. THE NEWSPAPER SENT OUT BIBLES!
Only in Colorado Springs could or would something like this happen.
IF I read the Gazette to begin with, I would cease. Luckily, this is not an issue (pardon the pun).
Only here in Colorado Springs, the evangelical mecca, would bibles be sent out with the newspaper. I find it completely astounding that I live and work in this town, and always threaten to leave, but the starlight glimmer of hope keeps me from abandoning this place altogether. There is, after all, the Independent.

What is rationality in this world of theocracy? WHERE is rationality? Christianity pollutes the air here with enforcement of small minded and self-righteous ignorance. The climate is extreme, the light so glaring that truth is hidden deep in shadows, reason villified, education stunted, progress is retrograde. Sadly, this is a blight that is spreading on our country's entire structure. It's enough to make one want to find a new land, a new country..........again.......where freedom, thought, knowledge, and liberty actually DO reign.

Patience, patience. Work from within, its not hopeless.

Well, its a little more hopeless than it was before but still, there's light at the end of the tunnel. Even if Hillary lost, surely a democrat will be in office soon. Maybe its a wishy-washy, unfocused democrat, but a dem nonetheless. The neonate that Obama is, and the lukewarm presidency he will no doubt coast through, will at least do no harm. Of course Hillary will not be vice-president, neither she nor Obama could accept that.
